I hope you’ve been ​practicing your flirting​, because as promised, this week I’m sending you great events for meeting singles IRL in 6 major U.S. cities.

I’ve talked before about my ​love of using Eventbrite as a tool​ for finding singles events. As I explained in that newsletter, events that are specifically for singles are reclaiming their place in the mainstream, and I’m all about it!

But I also want to expand the realm of what a way to meet someone single can look like. The event doesn’t have to be specifically for singles for it to be a super fruitful method of meeting people.

So while I’m including some classic speed dating or “singles only” events in here, I’m mostly showcasing events that aren’t restricted to singles, but where it’s easy to strike up a conversation, the activities do not gear towards couples, and, regardless of whether you meet the love of your life, I think you’ll genuinely have a good time.

Because at the end of the day, if you’re putting yourself out there, being active, and doing things that bring you joy, that’s going to permeate all aspects of your life. When you’re feeling like you’re an interesting person, other people are going to pick up that energy, whether they meet you at these events or in line at a coffee shop.

First, a couple of questions:

1) How Did I Find These Events?

Here was my process, so you can replicate it: I went to www.eventbrite.com, typed the city into the location search bar, and clicked Search—without including a search term at all. On the left hand side of the results, there’s a filter for “Date.” I wanted to give you guys events that were soon but not immediate, so I clicked on “Next week” and then scrolled through the many, many results, clicking on the ones that caught my eye!

But I also recommend filtering for events that you will specifically find enjoyable or interesting! That left hand column also has a filter for “Category.” If you’re a foodie, opt for Food & Drink. More of a doer? Select “Hobbies.” And, hidden where I’d never think to look for it, if you click “Home and Lifestyle” there is a sub-category called “Dating,” where you’ll find both standard speed dating/singles mixers events as well as some interesting lectures and workshops!

2) What If I Don’t Live In These Cities?

Take inspiration from the events I’ve listed, and look for similar events in your own city! Some of the events I’ve listed are a bit more out-of-the-box, and might not be things you’d have searched for or clicked on otherwise. Give them a shot, and let me know how it goes 🙂

3) What If I Show Up, And There Are No Eligible Singles?

No singles? No problem! You’re there to have a fun time! But here’s the key thing: network. Make friends. Expand the circle of people you can pull on to help set you up with their single friends. Follow the ​script from this post​ to text these new friends about getting you some dates!
