How to Start a Convo on Tinder

There is only ONE thing you need to know about how to start a convo on Tinder.

Do you believe me?

It’s not looks – matching is pretty much all about physical attraction, so clearly you’ve already got that!

It’s not shared interests – it’s a super cool bonus if on paper you and your match seem like you’ll be two peas in a pod, but that’s not the be-all and end-all.

The one and only thing you need to have to start a conversation on Tinder (a conversation that will get responses, that is)… is curiosity.

As long as you’re starting the conversation with a question, I almost don’t care what you’re asking about!

But I know you want me to be more specific, so here’s what I’ll say:

Avoid those questions that are so generic and broad that they won’t be fun for the other person to answer. No “How are you?” or “How was your weekend?” Tee your match up to tell you about something more exciting than their run-of-the-mill work day.

If you can, dig into something cool about their profile! If they scuba dive, ask about when they decided to get certified, what the craziest fish they’ve seen is, or how long they can hold their breath underwater. If they play an instrument, ask about whether they serenade their neighbors, what the one song they most love to play, or what they’d name their album if they were in a band.
